1. This petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been preferred, inter alia, with a prayer to issue an appropriate writ, order or direction, quashing and setting aside the impugned order dated 02.08.2011, passed by the District Superintendent of Police, Surat Rural (respondent No. 4), whereby, the application of the petitioner for the grant of compassionate pension has been rejected, as well as the order dated 02.06.2010, passed by the Appellate Authority, Inspector General of Police, Surat Zone (respondent No. 3), whereby the punishment of dismissal from service has been reduced to that of compulsory retirement, as also the order dated 09.03.2011, passed by the revisional authority, Director General of Police, Gujarat State (respondent No. 2), whereby, the order dated 02.06.2010, passed by the Appellate Authority has been confirmed.

2. The brief factual background of the case is to the effect that the petitioner was appointed as a Constable in the Police Department on 01.05.1989.
