ORDER :

This writ petition has been filed for issue of writ of mandamus directing the respondents to conduct a Peace Committee Meeting and to take a decision to enable the petitioners and others to participate in the festival which is scheduled to be commenced on 10.07.2025 and which goes up to 08.08.2025.

2. When the writ petition was taken up for hearing today in the morning, this Court directed the Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents 1 to 5 to take instructions and the matter was passed over to be called in the afternoon session.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing in the afternoon session, the learned Additional Government Pleader, based on the instructions received from the official respondents submitted that a Peace Committee Meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 03:00 p.m., headed by the Deputy Collector (Revenue), Karaikal District, Puducherry and the Superintendent of Police, Karaikal District, Puducherry.

4. Considering the above submission, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the official respondents to ensure that the festival is conducted in a smooth manner and all concerned are permitted to participate in the festival without giving rise to any law and order problem. To ensure that the entire festival goes on in a smooth manner, it is left open to the official respondents to impose reasonable conditions as is necessary. The learned Additional Government Pleader is directed to communicate a copy of this order copy to the respondents.

5. This Writ Petition stands disposed of in the above terms. No costs.
